Maruti Suzuki’s first-ever sedan on Indian roads was the Maruti 1000(970cc, 3 box) in 1990 which was given a higher engine and renamed as Maruti Esteem1.3L (1298cc, 3 box car)LX in 1994.The company has finally taken a decision to stop the production of Esteem.Production will resumes as new maruti dezire at its Manesar plant after a week-long maintenance shut down.
The new Swift sedan is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel engine variants.
The company would initially launch a petrol variant of the Swift sedan sporting a 1.3 litre engine
->diesel option, Maruti may pick the 1.3L DDIS engine which currently powers the swift hatch back to power. A diesel version is likely to introduce later in the year.

NEW MARUTI SPLASH in India in 2008

All these engines will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox and will be within Europe’s much debated C02 emission cap of 140g/km.
FEATURES- Suzuki Splash The car shall also come with Suzuki’s standard set of safety features like ABS, airbags, brake assist,ASP, etc some of which may be trimmed for India, to keep costs into consideration. Also the engine & transmission options may vary for India for the petrol versions.

Maruti Suzuki launch Swift DZire
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the much awaited sedan Swift DZire on March 26.
Based on the same platform as the Swift hatch, this new entry-level, A3-segment, sedan has been priced from Rs 4.49 lakh onwards to Rs 5.90 lakh for the petrol variants and Rs 5.39 lakh to Rs 6.70 lakh for the diesel variants.
Maruti claims that the DZire will sport class-leading features that have never been offered in any entry-level sedans in India. DZire will have integrated stereo, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and power windows. It also comes with safety features like Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, collapsible steering column and an i-CATS anti-theft facility.

New suzuki A-Star Concept car @ jan auto expo
The new model is an A-segment five-door hatchback equipped with new Euro5 compliant 1.0-litre aluminium petrol engine with CO2 emissions lower than 109g/km.The Suzuki A-Star Concept is for a compact car. Compact cars are normally simple and elegant in design. The Suzuki A-Star Concept , while retaining elegance and simplicity, will demonstrate sportiness and emotion in a compact car.
Concept cars often do not become production models, being more an expression of futuristic technologies and designs.
Concept A-Star is the first concept car in which designers from Maruti Suzuki India’s research and development division have been involved.

The production model of the Concept A-Star will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar plant, with production scheduled to start in October 2008.
